1) Summary
Pickleball Points Counter ("the App") is a scorekeeping utility for pickleball on iOS and watchOS. It does not require an account and is designed to work fully offline on your device. We do not sell your data. We do not show ads or use third-party tracking SDKs.
- No account, no login. Start scoring immediately.
- No analytics/tracking SDKs. Your privacy is paramount.
- On-device only. Your matches and settings stay on your device.
- Optional diagnostics. If you enable Apple's "Share with App Developers," Apple may share anonymized crash logs with us.
2) Data We Collect
On-Device App Data
The App stores match state and your preferences locally on your device. This data does not leave your device and is not transmitted to our servers (we do not operate any).
- Match scores and game state (teams, points, serve rotation)
- Scoring configuration (mode, target score, win-by rules, freeze settings)
- Match history for undo functionality
- In-app preferences (starting server, UI settings)
Diagnostics (Optional)
If you opt in at the system level to Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share With App Developers, Apple may provide us with anonymized crash logs and performance metrics. These logs help us fix bugs. We cannot use them to identify you.
You control this setting entirely through iOS/watchOS system preferences.
We do not collect: names, emails, precise locations, contacts, advertising identifiers, payment information, or any personally identifiable information within the App.
3) How and Why We Process Data
- Provide core functionality: Keep score, manage serve rotation, track match state, support side-out and rally scoring modes with all pickleball rules on your device.
- Improve stability: Use optional crash reports (if enabled by you) to diagnose and fix issues, ensuring the App works flawlessly during your matches.
Third Parties
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or cloud storage providers in the App. Apple may act as a processor for optional diagnostics as explained above.
International Transfers
Because we do not transmit your on-device data to servers, there are no international data transfers by us. Your match data stays on your Apple Watch and iPhone.
Legal Bases (GDPR)
- Performance of a contract: To provide the App's core features (scoring, rule enforcement, undo functionality) on your device.
- Legitimate interests: To improve stability and fix bugs using anonymous crash information (only if you opted in via Apple).
4) Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., EU/EEA, UK, California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data.
- Access/Portability: App data is stored locally on your device. You have direct access to all match data within the App.
- Deletion: Delete the App to remove all local data. We do not hold server copies. You can also reset match state within the App.
- Objection/Restriction: You can disable Apple's analytics sharing at any time in iOS/watchOS settings under Privacy & Security.
- Right to be Informed: This privacy policy explains what data we process and why.
To exercise rights or ask questions, contact us at privacy@yourdomain.com.
5) Data Retention
On-device match data and settings persist until you delete them in the App or uninstall the App. The App maintains an undo history during active matches but clears this history when you reset or start a new game.
Optional crash logs (if enabled) are retained by Apple per their policies; we do not control those timelines. Once received, we retain crash logs only as long as necessary to diagnose and fix bugs.
6) Security
The App uses the security features of iOS and watchOS, including encrypted storage and secure system APIs. Because data is stored locally and never transmitted to external servers, your match information is protected by your device's security measures.
Recommendation: Keep your device passcode/Face ID/Touch ID enabled and software up to date for maximum security.
No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, but we minimize risk by keeping all match data on your device and not transmitting it to external servers.
7) Children's Privacy
The App is suitable for all ages and does not collect personal data. Pickleball is a family-friendly sport, and our App is designed to be used by players of all ages without privacy concerns.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information directly, contact us and we will address it promptly.
8) Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect product improvements or legal changes. We will update the "Effective date" above and, when material changes occur, may provide an in-app notice or update announcement.
Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
